JOSH LIPTON: Toyota debuting its brand new 2025 4Runner last night, giving the SUV its first full makeover in 15 years. For more, we’re bringing in Yahoo Finance’s Pras Subramanian.

PRAS SUBRAMANIAN: Josh, 15 years is a long time for in between model refreshes or all new models, but it’s finally here. The new 4Runner, it’s a very kind of a cult following for this vehicle because it’s so hardcore, they last forever. You’ve seen models going 300,000 miles, 400,000 miles. It’s just a very rugged truck. Now Toyota rebrand new model, brand new body, more comfortable, bigger interior, better sightlines, but also most importantly adding a hybrid powertrain to this vehicle to make it a bit more fuel efficient, more power with that powertrain.

So bringing it up to the 21st century here with the 4Runner which had a very long history with Toyota.

And how– I mean, is this a big seller to them traditionally?

PRAS SUBRAMANIAN: It’s a decent seller. This is the thing that Bloomberg is writing about this today about how Toyota, number one selller in the US last year but what happened is that they lost out on the midsize SUV. So they started losing out on those. They sell a bunch of RAV4s, but they don’t sell enough of the Hyundai Palisade’s of the world. Those types of Hyundai and Kia over surpass them, even GM and GMC with the terrain.

So this is a way to get back into that midsize segment there. The forerunner might not be the volume seller, but it’s just sort of getting them back in the game.

It looks pretty cool.

Yeah.

Points for the car t-shirt today, Pars.

Thank you.

Love it. All right. Appreciate it.
