Ram is our Best Truck Brand for the fifth consecutive year, thanks to their models’ combination of luxury and traditional trucking capabilities. Pickup trucks are far and away the best-selling vehicles in the United States, yet the pickups in the Ram lineup manage to stay ahead of the fierce competition with a standout blend of capability and quality.

The Ram 1500 is the star of the brand’s pickup lineup and a regular leader in our full-size truck ranking. While the 1500 is built for capability as a baseline, the 1500 can be configured in several different ways, starting with a no-frills Tradesman work truck and ranging to a downright luxurious daily driver in the Limited trim. Compared to similarly equipped pickups, the Ram 1500 offers one of the nicest interiors in the class.

Powertrain options include both V6 and V8 engines. In the top-trim Ram 1500 TRX, the 6.2 liter supercharged V8 puts out a massive 702 horsepower, making it one of the most raucous vehicles on sale, not just among trucks. The Ram family also offers an uncommon suspension configuration as well, enabling the 1500 to deliver a ride quality superior to many of its peers.

While it may offer many of the trappings of a luxury vehicle, the Ram is nonetheless a pickup truck and provides the capability required of a utility vehicle. When properly configured, the 1500 can tow up to 12,750 pounds or haul up to 2,300 pounds. Though not class-leading figures, they are competitive and just one strength among many in this well-rounded truck.
