Our Modern Chevrolet Biscayne Render Digitally Revives A GM Icon

With the Chevrolet Camaro gone for 2024 and no direct replacement on the horizon, the GM pony car is history, alongside the Dodge Charger and Challenger. For now, the great American flagships remain the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Corvette. But whether in electric form or totting an internal combustion engine of its own, a new Chevy muscle car would likely be well received.

Since the Camaro name already got put out to pasture, there could be a new use for one of the past’s memorable nameplates — the Biscayne. This could be the pared-back, affordable muscle car revolution we’ve been waiting for, with inspiration from the late-60s classic car. HotCars artist Timothy Adry Emmanuel provides us with an inspired render that takes some spirit from the ’67 Biscayne and applies it to a modern muscle car base.

A Historic Name Returns For This Chevy Muscle Car

As we can see later (where we briefly examine Chevy Biscayne values), the inspiration from the classic car is clear in this modern render. The rendered model’s base seems reminiscent of both the outgoing Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger. Its front end looks all Challenger, while that coke bottle kink in the rear could be from either muscle car. Like the original full-size car from ’67, this reimagining summons a pointed nose and angular fender tops — check out the grille that extends to each protruding side. Ah, there’s nothing quite like 1960s design.

Twin LED headlamps mimic the Biscayne’s gaze, but there’s more inspiration on the side. That kink in the rear and the triangular, sloping rear window are also inspired by the original, as well as ‘Biscayne’ badging. The wheels are very large in diameter and look like modified Camaro rims.

An Affordable Muscle Car With Classic Style

It’s worth remembering the Biscayne for what it was. The rendering artist chose the 1965 model from the fourth of five generations that ran from ’65 to ’70. This classic car sat at the bottom of Chevy’s full-size hierarchy under the Bel Air.

At the top of the range sat the premium and pricey Caprice and Impalas, but this car offered some of the same looks, size, and power for less (with fewer options and luxury). In a world where Chevrolet could continue the V8-powered Camaro line, the lineup could get split into a pared-back Biscayne model with fewer options, alongside a flagship Camaro with increased luxury.

• Affordable values peak at $21,700 for the desirable 7-liter version according to Hagerty, which made competitive power for the time
• Also available as a 4-door sedan and station wagon, but no coupe or convertible

As we can see below, values for the Chevy Biscayne are relatively affordable, almost doubling from the base-level 4.6-liter-equipped version to the 7-liter car. Alternatives from Chevrolet include other full-size cars from the time like the Bel Air, Caprice, and Impala.

Most of the key features of the ’67 Biscayne made it over to the render, but the modern concept looks more like a muscle car thanks to its big wheels and muscular proportions. Chevrolet won’t make such a car, since it retired its Camaro line after 2023, but an electric car with the nameplate can’t get ruled out however unlikely it seems. After all, Dodge did resurrect the ‘Daytona’ nameplate for its upcoming gasoline/EV muscle car, the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT.
