10 GMC Sierra

The only American state outside North America, Hawaiians love Tacoma, and they bought the amazing truck for prices ranging from $28,080 to $49,390. Other top-selling models in the state include the Toyota 4Runner and Toyota RAV4.

8 Tesla Model Y

Americans are really warming up to electric vehicles, and it’s not too suppressing that an EV is among the most popular vehicles sold in the country last year. Of course, that honor goes to the Tesla Model Y. To make its inclusion even more special, the Model Y is the only EV that made this list. With a fast-charging network, roomy cabin, great acceleration, and competitive range, Americans surely aren’t fazed by the true cost of owning a Tesla Model Y.

Model Y Dominated State: California

Home to the Hollywood entertainment industry, and with diverse terrain that include redwood forest, Mojave Desert, cliff-lined beaches, among others, California is eagerly embracing an electric automotive future. More Model Ys were bought in California than any other vehicle in 2022. It’s also no coincidence that the next best-selling vehicle in the state for the 2022 calendar year is another EV, the Tesla Model 3.

It’s a mid-size SUV, yet it can seat as much as eight people in total. Not only that, but the popular Toyota model also has good safety ratings and impressive fuel economy. Americans know all these, and they didn’t hold back in 2022 from splashing on the Highlander.

Highlander Dominated State: Rhode Island (Came 2nd)

The Highland never ruled the sales chart in any American state in 2022, but it had good cumulative sales in several states to earn a place on this list. The mid-size SUV placed 2nd and 3rd in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, respectively, while it also made top five in Kentucky and Virginia.

The CR-V’s cabin is spacious and comfortable, and it also houses a long list of standard features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rearview camera, a six-speaker stereo, and many more. Besides that, the model also boasts impressive safety features and driver assistance technology.

CR-V Dominated State: New Jersey

There are several reasons why the 2023 Honda CR-V is worth every penny, and these also explains why the model contributed greatly to CR-V topping the sales chart in New Jersey in the 2022 calendar year, while making top five in some other states. Currently, CR-V is also Honda’s best-selling model in the world.

5 Toyota Camry

Reliable, fuel efficient, and very comfortable, the Toyota Camry has been a bestseller all over the world, including America, for several years. Offered in a variety of alluring trim levels, the Toyota Camry is also revered for its impressive safety features and standard driver assistance technologies.

Camry Dominated State: Alabama (3rd)

It’s no more news why American car owners tend to buy SUVs, Crossovers, and trucks, more than other vehicle types, which also explains why this list is dominated by them. The 2500 Ram is a heavy-duty pickup truck revered for its heavy payload capacity and powerful engines, while the Ram 3500, beside its highly luxurious interior, is a super-duty pickup truck known for its ability to tow and haul incredibly heavy objects.
