The vehicle’s owner attempted to re-enter the car through the passenger side during the Wednesday afternoon incident.

GLENVIEW, IL — A car owner was injured when they fell attempting to re-enter their vehicle as it was being stolen during a vehicular hijacking incident Wednesday afternoon at the Costco Gas Station. The car, a Mercedes-Benz sedan, was last seen traveling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 94.

The car’s owner, who injured their leg, was taken to Glenbrook Hospital by Glenview firefighters for medical treatment.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 11:49 a.m. at 2930 Patriot Blvd. While pumping gas, the car owner saw a man enter the driver’s side door, start the car and begin to pull away. After the car owner fell, the car was driven out of the parking lot in an unknown direction.

Police said the suspect was wearing all black clothing and a black ski mask.

An investigation into the incident is currently being conducted by Glenview detectives. Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Glenview Police Tip Line at 847-901-6055.
