Affected vehicles include model-year 2024 Encore GX, Envista and Trax SUVs. The software used in these models’ virtual cockpit unit module may cause the instrument panel to go blank upon startup or while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

To fix the issue, the software will be updated by the dealer or via an over-the-air update for free. GM will begin notifying owners Dec. 22, but those with further questions in the meantime can call Buick at 800-521-7300 or Chevy at 800-222-1020 (GM’s number for this recall is  A232424320), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
