The SUV owners’ group is becoming quite popular in the country. Many of them organize road trips and even off-road adventures. Off-roading is still not very popular among SUV owners in India, and only a very small portion of the owners actually know the actual capability of their vehicle. There are several videos online where 4×4 SUVs are performing well on off-road tracks and terrains. The Maruti Jimny is the newest kid on the block, and people have been posting off-road videos with this SUV a lot. Here, we have a video where a Maruti Jimny and a Toyota Fortuner go off-roading.

The video has been uploaded by Small Town Rider on his YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger and his friend take his Maruti Jimny to an off-road location along with a Toyota Fortuner. The vlogger actually wanted to make a small video of his Jimny with the Fortuner, and that is why they decided to take the cars off-road. The Toyota Fortuner was equipped with BF Goodrich off-road spec tires, and the Jimny has stock tires.

Both SUVs are driven to a riverbed, which is their usual spot. The vlogger mentions in the video that this is not a comparison; he just wanted to see how both SUVs behaved in a particular off-road situation. They drove through the loose sand on the riverbed without any issues. The Fortuner driver did not even engage 4×4 for most of the part. After reaching the first obstacle, the vlogger and his friends checked the track and then got back in.

The vlogger was driving the Jimny and initially did not engage 4×4. It was a climb with loose sand on the track. It maintained momentum and managed to climb up almost to the top. However, the final stretch was slightly steep, and the loose sand was not helping here. So, the driver moved the car back a few inches and then engaged 4H. After this, the SUV smoothly climbed up.

Maruti Jimny vs Fortuner off-roading

After this, it was the Toyota Fortuner’s turn. Just like the Jimny, the Fortuner’s driver also attempted the climb in 2WD. However, the car could not climb and was getting stuck in the sand. The driver engaged 4×4, and the Fortuner also climbed up smoothly. After this obstacle, they went to a slope where they had to drive down through a narrow track. This was tricky for the Fortuner as it is much wider than the Jimny.

The Maruti Jimny was the first to go down. The vlogger smoothly drove the car down. The Fortuner also managed to go down with timely instructions from the spotter. The initial plan was to go down and climb up through the same track; however, the track was too narrow and was destroyed in the rain. Both the Jimny and Fortuner would have been damaged if they pushed the cars to the limit on this obstacle. The vlogger and his friends left the riverbed as it was about to rain. The riverbed usually experiences flash floods, which can be dangerous. In order to avoid getting stuck during such a situation, they simply drove away. Both the Jimny and Fortuner performed well. The Jimny was lightweight, and it had its advantage on the track.
