This month Rishi Sunak changed the government’s climate change commitments claiming politicians had not been “honest with the public” about the cost of net zero. The ban on the sale of new petrol cars by 2030 will now be pushed back to 2035.

Ford, the best-selling marque in the UK, led an industry backlash stating: “Our business needs three things from the government: ambition, commitment and consistency. A relaxation of 2030 would undermine all three.”
