Mercedes-Benz Designer Says DRLs Are The New Exhausts Of EVs

“What’s crucial for us is being iconic. We want to make a difference to the sea of sameness, all these faceless cars that have no identity. We want to stick out of that with iconic features, and with Mercedes, we have all possibilities to do so.”

The Concept CLA Class is underpinned by the new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), signaling the transition of the CLA Class into the EV era. The same platform, along with the new signature DRL signature, should be adopted by the brand’s future EVs, such as the alleged CLA Shooting Brake.

Mercedes-Benz is expected to launch the production version in late 2024 and arrive as a 2025 model year in the US. That’s when we’ll see how the so-called new “exhaust” would turn out in the metal.
