Fall is nearly here, but if you’re already in the Autumn spirit, there are plenty of events in our region that will have you enjoying the cooler temperatures.We’ve compiled a list of family-friendly activities in Vermont and Northern New York to help you kick off the fall season.VermontBristol Harvest Festival – Sept. 23The 24th annual Bristol Harvest Festival includes a Stampede Walkathon and 5K race as well as a craft fair featuring more than 70 booths, according to organizers. There will also be trolley rides and pony rides for children. Find out more info here.Burke Fall Foliage Festival – Sept. 30This rain-or-shine event features a parade, community barbecue and craft fair, as well as a raffle, bingo with cash prizes and live music. Find out more info here.Groton Fall Foliage Day – Oct. 7A parade and great pumpkin weigh-in are highlights of this Groton celebration, with vendors selling food and items along Main Street. A chicken pie supper will also be available for purchase. Find out more info here.Marshfield Fall Foliage Festival – Oct. 1This town event will feature free family activities like cider pressing, arts and crafts and a petting zoo, in addition to a craft sale, flea market and 50/50 raffle. North Meadow Farm’s Fall Festival on the Farm in Manchester – Oct. 7Carnival games, ice cream, a petting zoo and a farmers market are highlights at the second annual fall bash in Manchester. Find out more info here.Middlebury Car Show & Fall Festival – Oct. 15The second annual car show and fall festival will feature 75 classic cars, more than 60 food vendors and live music, as well as games and activities for kids. Find out more info here.Montpelier Fall Festival – Oct. 1This year’s festival will include a 1-mile fun run, live music from local artists, food trucks and a celebrity dunk tank. Newport Fall Festival and Chili Cookoff – Sept 23Features a chili challenge cookoff as well as a Northeast Kingdom photo contest. Other activities include a scarecrow decorating contest, live music and a classic car show. A craft fair with more than 35 vendors will also be on-site during the festivities. Live music, a volleyball tournament and food trucks will also be on tap for the day. Vermont Wine & Harvest Festival – Sept. 22-23The 14th annual festival in Wilmington features wine and soup sampling, as well as an expo with more than 60 local beverage vendors.
