I really like the site iSeeCars.com. Especially their annual lists and rankings of the top cars, trucks, and SUVs on the market.
One of their intriguing recent stories focuses on “the longest-lasting cars, trucks, and SUVs to reach 250,000 miles and beyond”.
I wonder how Toyota did in the SUV category – especially Toyota RAV4.
Toyota RAV4 and iSeeCars.com
For this study, iSeeCars looked at 260 million vehicles that were sold between the years of 2012 and 2022 to see what their chances were to achieve high mileage.
Specifically, what percentage chance did each model have of reaching 250,000 miles or more?
Turns out, the average vehicle only has an 11.8% chance of making it to one quarter million miles. That number is surprisingly low to me, but I guess it also makes sense too.
The Toyota SUV I keep an eye on is Toyota RAV4 (including RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime as well). This is the best-selling SUV in the country due to its reliability, versatility, size, style, and comfort.
Plus, additions to 2023 Toyota RAV4 include the new Toyota Audio Multimedia and Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 systems. I really like gadgets, multimedia capabilities, and fun features, so these are solid upgrades.
Did RAV4 even make this list, though?
The Longest-Lasting SUVs
Here is the list of the top 14 longest-lasting SUVs, according to iSeeCars. This ranking is based on each vehicle’s percentage chance of making it to 250,000 miles.
- Toyota Land Cruiser 47.9%
- Toyota Sequoia 47.1%
- Honda Pilot 42.7%
- Toyota 4Runner 41.0%
- Acura MDX 29.2%
- Honda Element 27.8%
- Honda CR-V 27.5%
- Subaru Element 22.3%
- GMC Yukon XL 21.3%
- Ford Expedition 19.9%
- Toyota RAV4 18.1%
- Toyota Highlander 17.5%
- Nissan Xterra 16.2%
- Chevrolet Trailblazer 15.6%
The overall average percentage was a 15.0% chance for SUVs to survive 250,000 miles. These are the ones that were overachievers, of sorts.
Time for Your Toyota RAV4 Comments
Being a Toyota RAV4 fan, I am a little bit disappointed RAV4 only made it to 11th place on the list.
But being an even bigger Toyota fan in general, having 5 of 14 vehicles on this list is a huge achievement.
