The sports sedan market has been a hotly contested segment with offerings from the likes of BMW, Audi, Dodge, and other big manufacturers all competing. BMW in particular offers a wide range of BMW M cars with impressive performance, one of which is undoubtedly the infamous M3 model line.

With that in mind, the guys at The Straight Pipes YouTube channel put the brand-new 2024 BMW M3 CS through its paces in their latest video to see how it stacks up against the previous generation, as well as against some of the other cars within the M lineup.

The Straight Pipes channel has done reviews on a ton of different BMW M cars, so they have a large library of data to draw from. Their final verdict on the 2024 M3 CS may also come as a bit of a surprise.

The 2024 BMW M3 CS Has 90 HP More Than The Previous M3 CS

Getting right into the details of the car, Jacob and Yuri from The Straight Pipes point out that the 2024 BMW M3 CS makes 543 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque from the 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine. The motor gets shared with the M4 CSL and Jacob remarks that the motor has incredible response with virtually no turbo lag.

Having completed a thorough review of the 2018 BMW M3 CS, the guys state that the power bump for this new generation M3 CS is impressive. The 2024 model makes 90 more hp and 36 lb-ft more torque.

The 2024 BMW M3 CS is a super sedan with the guys remarking how much they love the M xDrive system which allows the car to switch between AWD, AWD Sport, and Rear-wheel drive modes. They launch the car to test out the claimed 0-62 MPH time of 3.4 seconds and come off impressed, especially with the exhaust note.

Yuri remarks that the M3 CS felt slow relative to the Porsche GT3 that they tested the day before, but that comparison is hardly fair.

While the 2024 BMW M3 CS is lighter than the M3 Competition model, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for Jacob and Yuri. They repeat multiple times throughout the video that this car may not be actually driven at all as it is set to become a collector’s car, with only a few thousand predicted to get made in total.

Other main complaints of the car are that the dead pedal creates an awkward leg position while driving, the infotainment system is deeply flawed, and the tach and dash look overcomplicated among other issues.

With four doors and a relatively spacious backseat, the 2024 BMW M3 CS is a family-friendly sports car, but the guys remark that the car is more of a race car as it does not come standard with cruise control, 360-degree camera, or much internal storage space.

They find the fact that BMW included a wireless charging station in the car hilarious considering the other glaringly obvious absent creature comforts. When all’s said and done, both Jacob and Yuri of The Straight Pipes state point-blank that they preferred the previous generation BMW M3 CS over the new model.
