LISBON — State troopers arrested a Norwich woman Sunday after she attempted to flee the scene of a two-vehicle car crash on River Road by hiding in the nearby woods, officials said.

Lauren Donohue, 43, was taken into custody around 5:49 p.m. after troopers responded to the area of 114 River Road for the reported collision, according to a release from the Connecticut State Police.

State police said the crash took place when Donohue failed to maintain their lane while driving south on River Road and struck a 2006 Chrysler sedan that was attempting to turn into the roadway.

Police said Donohue exited her 2006 Mercedes-Benz sedan and fled into the woods to evade law enforcement. Police said troopers then deployed a K-9 named Zedo who helped law them locate Donohue and take her into custody.

The operator of the Chrysler denied medical attention and drove the vehicle safely away from the scene, police said. Donohue’s Mercedes-Benz was towed from the scene, according to the release.

Police said Donohue made verbal threats to kill the troopers and their families while she was being arrested. The release also indicates troopers observed Donohue appearing to be unsteady on her feet and smelled the odor of alcohol on her person.

Police said troopers were unable to perform a field sobriety test on Donohue due to what they described as uncooperative and aggressive conduct.

Donohue was charged with evading responsibility, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, failure to drive upon right, interfering with an officer and second-degree threatening, according to police. She was held on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday in state Superior Court in Norwich.
