New BMW models coming in 2023

New BMW i7 M70

A performance version of BMW’s electric limo has been revealed. The new i7 M70 has 660hp and 1,100Nm of torque from it’s revised dual electric motors, and it’ll do 0-60mph in 3.7 seconds. That’s not as fast as a Tesla Model S Plaid, however it is slightly quicker than the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53.

A luxury barge like this is never going to handle like a hot hatch, but BMW has revised the suspension to keep things in check while you hurtle down a country road. It has adaptive air suspension, active roll stabilisation and rear-wheel-steering to help it change direction with more zest.

You get a 101kWh battery pack with 348 miles of range, over 30 miles less than the standard i7, and that’s if you can keep your right foot under control. The i7 M70 will go on sale in the Summer.

New BMW XM Label Red

Also coming in 2023 is the most powerful M car ever made. The XM Label Red has a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 paired with an electric motor. Combined, they produce 748hp and 1,000Nm of torque. That’s 95hp and 200Nm more than the standard BMW XM.

It’s also enough power to launch the Label Red from 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds, compared to 4.3 seconds in the standard XM. The top speed can also be increased from 155mph to 180mph with the M Driver’s package.

As the name suggests, the Label Red gets plenty of red accents. You get red trim around the grille, windows and wheels, as well as red badging around the car. This car is limited to 500 units worldwide, and it’ll set you back £170,860. That’s £22,000 more than the standard XM.

New BMW 5 Series and i5

The new BMW 5 Series is on the way, along with the new i5 electric car. This new executive car is set for a debut within the next couple of months.

It’s been teased a couple of times, albeit in camouflage, but you can tell that it’ll be a bit more restrained than other new models from BMW, such as the new 7 Series. The kidney grilles are more slender than that car’s, and it’ll retain the classic three-box saloon shape of the current car.

The electric BMW i5 could get up to 400 miles of range, which would put it in the same ballpark of the Mercedes EQE. An estate version of the new BMW 5 Series has also been spotted testing, and it’ll debut in the spring of 2024.

New BMW 1 Series and M135i

BMW’s smallest car is getting an update later this year, and a new version of the hot M135i is also coming. These spy shots show a car with quad tailpipes, meaning it could be a more powerful M140i version.

The current M135i has 306hp from it’s 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. This new car could have as much as 320hp. As for the standard 1 Series, expect to see the same range of 1.5 and 2.0-litre petrol engines on offer.

Styling-wise, the new 1 Series will get a series of subtle tweaks, which is likely to include revised bumpers and new lights.

New BMW X5 and X6 M Competition

The new BMW X5 M and X6 M Competition are both available to order now, with first deliveries expected in the spring. Prices start from £123,350 for the X5 and £126,050 for the X6.

Both of these SUVs gat a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engines with 625hp and 750Nm of torque, and both can do 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds.

Beyond the engine, these SUVs have uprated suspension and more aggressive-looking styling than the standard X5 and X6.

New BMW 3.0 CSL

The BMW 3.0 CSL is a limited-run special edition built to pay homage to the classic 3.0 CSL from the 1970s. It gets the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six from the M4, only it makes an extra 10hp giving it 560hp overall.

You also get a manual gearbox and rear-wheel-drive, as well as a completely bespoke bodykit. Just 50 of these cars will be built and production has already begun.

New BMW M2

The new BMW M2 was revealed late last year, and Mat’s now got his hands on one for a test drive. Check out the in-depth review below for his full thoughts on this new sports coupe.

Under the bonnet you’ll find the same 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged straight-six as the BMW M3 and M4, albeit slightly detuned. In the M2 it produces 460hp and 550Nm of torque. It’s also the only new M car you can buy with a manual gearbox.

Unlike the less powerful BMW M240i, the M2 is only available with rear-wheel-drive. It is quite a bit more expensive than the M240i though, with a starting price of £61,495.

New BMW XM

Another car built to celebrate 50 years of M, the BMW XM is the second-ever M-exclusive car after the M1 of the 1970s. Check out the in-depth review below for Mat’s thoughts on this SUV.

Unlike the M1, the XM is a massive, luxurious SUV with a plug-in hybrid engine. It has a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with an electric motor to make 653hp and 800Nm of torque, making it the most powerful BMW ever made. If that’s not enough for you, there will be a Label Red version with 748hp and 1,000Nm of torque along soon.

Deliveries of the new BMW XM will start in the Autumn of 2023 with prices starting from £144,980.

New BMW M3 CS

A new track-focussed BMW M3 CS will go on sale in March 2023, and it gets more power from the 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six engine. It has 550hp, compared to 510hp in the standard car.

This new M3 gets additional chassis bracing to make it stiffer, and the CS gets all-wheel-drive as standard. It’s also 20 kg lighter than the standard car.

Prices will start at £115,900, around £35,000 more than the BMW M3 Competition.

New BMW Models coming in 2024

New BMW M5

The seventh-generation BMW M5 is also on its way, and development is well underway. Prototypes have been spotted out and about a few times now.

It’s highly likely that this new super-saloon will get a plug-in hybrid setup, possibly shared with the XM SUV. This would mean a 4.4-litre V8 paired with an electric motor, with up to 650hp and 800Nm of torque possible.

BMW M Division boss Frank Van Meel has also hinted that an M5 Touring estate may also be on the cards, however that’s some way off yet. Expect to see the M5 saloon debut in 2024.

New BMW models coming in 2025

New BMW M5 Touring

BMW hasn’t made an M5 estate since the iconic E61 V10 version in the mid 2000s. This could be about to change though, as M Division boss Frank Van Meel has hinted that this latest M5 could be available as a wagon.

It seems even more likely after the launch of BMW’s first ever M3 Touring this year. Styling details at the front would remain the same as the saloon, and it would retain the quad tailpipes at the rear as well.

Under the bonnet would be the same V8 hybrid system as the saloon as well, although it may be a touch slower thanks to added weight. If this car does come to fruition, expect to see it launched at the beginning of 2025.

New BMW i Vision Dee

BMW recently revealed the new i Vision Dee concept, and it’s a look ahead at what a future 3 Series could be like.

It’s certainly a radical departure from BMW’s current lineup, and it’ll be electric only. Instead of huge vertical kidney grilles, you get horizontal strips across the front. These can also change colour depending on how you want the car to look, however this is unlikely to make production.

The i Vision Dee will inspire a future electric BMW 3 Series in 2025, although expect the design to be toned down a bit.

New BMW M8 replacement

The next BMW M8 could be fully electric using BMW’s next generation platform. In theory, this means it could have up to 1,360hp and four electric motors.

These exclusive renders give you an idea of what this new car will look like, taking heavy inspiration from the i Vision Dee concept car.
