“Neue Klasse is making huge progress in sustainability, efficiency, and technology,” Weber continued. “There are four dedicated ‘super brains’ in the vehicle. One, for example, connects all of the driving functions – chassis, propulsion attributes, etc. – all in one brain.”

In many ways, customers will have to relearn a modern BMW. For example, Weber told us that the “iDrive controller is no longer useful. There will instead be a full-sized head-up display [that will cover] the entire base of the windshield starting at the A-pillar that will serve as a huge display visible to everybody inside of the vehicle.”

The recently revealed BMW i Vision Dee concept already lacks that familiar controller dial in favor of a windshield-wide head-up display. This is the future of BMW.

“A vehicle is a very complex product, and the digital capabilities make it more complex. This vehicle [Neue Klasse] is capable of driving very well and when looking at it statically,” said Weber.
