A deadly crash closed a road in Orlando Thursday morning.It was reported around 5:30 a.m. in the area of SR-528 and the eastbound exit ramp to SR-520.According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2006 BMW and a 2022 Honda CMX300 motorcycle. Officials say the BMW was traveling the wrong way and struck the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The BMW driver fled the scene on foot and has yet to be found. Troopers say they have a witness. There was a person driving a car in front of the motorcycle.The driver was able to tell them what happened.Chopper 2 footage showed a BMW on State Road 520, the hood crumpled, skid marks and what appeared to be a motorcycle nearby.According to troopers, the person driving the BMW was driving the wrong way on SR-520 and hit the motorcycle head-on, killing the 60-year-old driver.”This is an absolutely devastating case,” said Lt. Tara Crescenzi of Florida Highway Patrol. FHP says the man on the motorcycle most likely did not have time to react. His view was blocked by a car driving in front of him that was able to swerve in time to miss the BMW. The driver of the BMW then ran off. Troopers say it was a hit-and-run. Troopers have paid a visit to the home the car is registered to but have not been able to reach the driver. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office also had K-9s on the scene.They are asking the driver to turn themselves in. “Do not run. You are looking at felony jail time, you are looking at criminal charges. But not only that, but this family is going to be in mourning of the lost of their loved one and not have that closure that they’re going to need,” Crescenzi said.
