Mike and Brian from YouTube channel Bros FOURR Speed take a 2023 Nissan Z with the optional manual transmission on a drive down the Tail Of The Dragon; an eleven-mile mountain pass famous for its many turns and steep hills.

Throughout the video, the guys provide their thoughts on the Nissan sports car overall as well as how it performs on this road famous for luring car enthusiasts of all kinds to the North Carolina and Tennessee border where the road goes. Check out the video to see how the car performs and whether or not it impresses them.

2023 Nissan Z On The Tail Of The Dragon

It is their first time on the road which contains over 300 turns across 11 miles. It is a true test of performance and handling capabilities for any sports car that will offer an opportunity to really feel the car, unlike most roads that you’ll travel on every day.

Early in the video, they go up a steep hill and find the balance of what gear to travel up it in with the responsive manual transmission. They previously drove this exact same Nissan Z on different mountain roads near where they live.

They particularly enjoy curvy roads in a performance car because it really gives them an opportunity to test the handling. During the drive, they keep the car mostly in second and third gear as the curvy road isn’t necessarily designed for driving with speed.

The Tail Of The Dragon contains steep hills, sharp turns, long dropoffs off the side of the road, and occasionally other vehicles traveling haphazardly, some of which seem out of place on the road such as an older Chevrolet Suburban SUV.

Preferable To The 370Z

They comment on the confident steering setup of the car and note that it is responsive despite the weight of the car. The Nissan Z is heavier than comparable sports cars like the Toyota Supra but finds that its weight does not hold it back from turning quickly and at the speed desired.

The Z’s steering is something that they applaud multiple times throughout the video, particularly on the complicated road. Around the halfway point, they stop and switch drivers before continuing along the rest of the route.

In comparison to a Nissan 370Z, they prefer the new Z and feel excited to get one of their own and make some modifications that will push the car’s dynamics beyond the stock version of the Nissan. The car is quiet for what it is and some modifications to increase the sounds will add to the adrenaline that the driving experience of the Z delivers.

According to the brothers, linear turbo power, responsive transmission, and excellent steering all come together to make the Z a satisfying car to drive on the Tail Of The Dragon, which they’ll be releasing more videos of other cars on the road soon.
