Digital Artist Rostislav Prokop’s new what if render shows you can enjoy the grand touring experience while avoiding the gas station.
Tesla are back in the news after they confirm that they will be moving away from ultrasonic sensors, and sales figures slumped progressively over the last couple of years due to costs and the increasingly capable competition. However, Tesla is one of the most successful electric vehicle brands ever and helped to set precedents for tech, electric range, and speed.
The Model S’ design is perhaps a weak point for the flagship sedan just like the rest of the range, but luckily, digital artisan Rostislav Prokop from Instagram brings an interesting twist to the ‘S’ by turning it into the grand-touring convertible Model S.
We look at the elegant digital design to see what’s up.
The Custom Tesla Model S Convertible Is Actually Awesome
This render video previously got dropped onto Instagram and HotCars was able to cover the custom Model S in depth as an exclusive. As a base, the renderer uses a red Model S and most of the body and design will manage to survive its evolution from sedan to convertible.
However, the four-door format gets replaced by two longer doors that end at the rear wheel arches and rear quarters elegantly. Up top, the change to convertible is dramatic, resulting in a long, sweeping line from the A-pillar to the rear and a long chrome strip.
The resulting shape is now like an Audi A5 convertible and that’s no bad thing – the standard Tesla model S’ rear now features a smaller trunk in place of the hatchback door.

Swapping The Tesla Model S For A Convertible
Inside the Rostislav Prokop custom Model S convertible, there are other changes that make this an attractive proposition – starting with the tan leather trim.
This brown trim also features on the top of the dashboard and protrudes over the edge, with Tesla’s landscape-oriented infotainment screen below. Tesla’s contentious steering yoke is not present here either, resulting in a gorgeous drop-top that prioritizes elegant design over outright innovation.
As we report in the original exclusive article: “For 2022, the base dual motor Model S has 670 hp, takes 3.1 seconds to get to 60 mph, and it promises a range of around 375 miles. The Plaid, meanwhile, adds another electric motor, for a total output of 1,020 hp and a promised top speed of 200 mph”.
That kind of performance and electric economy combined with this kind of design might prove to be the secret to Tesla’s ongoing success.
