Erratic drivers: South Woodland, SOM Center roads

An anonymous caller reported seeing “a bunch of souped-up cars” crossing the center line and driving an estimated 80 mph in a 40-mph zone at 8:26 p.m. Aug. 17. The caller thought they were going to race as they were heading north, noting that a Mercedes Benz in the pack was emblazoned with a wrap that said “Race.com.” Police reported at 8:42 p.m. they had checked the area and were unable to locate any apparent suspects, who appeared to be gone on arrival.

Damage to property: Murwood Drive

A resident, 66, reported at 3:16 p.m. Aug. 18 that his Nissan was sideswiped while it was parked sometime between 7 a.m. Aug. 15 and that morning by an unknown vehicle or person. Information was to be taken for a police report as the investigation continued.

9-1-1 hangup: South Woodland, Chagrin River roads

Police checked the Metroparks’ Polo Fields after a hangup call to 9-1-1 emergency dispatch at 11:06 p.m. Aug. 19.

The call was traced and a father explained that he’d gotten into an argument with his son, 20, over the son allegedly drinking.

The son was reportedly still angry and after Moreland Hills officers checked the area with negative results, Russell police were notified about the situation.

Harassing communication: Canyon Drive

A resident advised just after 4 p.m. Aug. 15 he received a harassing phone call from someone who gave their name but whom he did not know. The resident asked police to notify that person and tell him to stop calling. The complainant did not wish to have a report on file.

Complaints (general): Jackson Road

Police checked an unspecified hunting complaint at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 17 near Wiley Creek between Mill Hollow Drive and Giles Road, with no further information available.
