German tuners like Mansory, Brabus, G-Power, and a few others have been like competitors to luxury carmakers, for they have competed with these companies neck and neck. That explains why the super-rich gets their cars tuned by these companies.

The BMW X5 is the best-selling vehicle for the Bavarian carmaker. This SUV brings top-notch styling and luxury, performance, top-line features, excellent safety, and great practicality under one single roof. Above these, if you want track-worthy performance from this luxury car, there’s the X5 M super SUV, which provides sharp driving characteristics and impressive power.

G-Power, an Aichach-based Bavarian luxury car tuning company known for their magical tuning of sportscars, has recently introduced a sinister variant of the X5 M, which they nicknamed “Typhoon S.”

This BMW X5 M received everything it lacked. The German tuning business has taken the X5 M to an insane level by outfitting it with a carbon fiber widebody kit, various performance-oriented exterior additions, and magic in the S63 twin-turbo V8 engine to acquire a massive 800 ponies.

As far as pricing is concerned, G-Power hasn’t yet revealed the pricing of the BMW X5 M Typhoon S, but we expect this sinister BMW to be in the ballpark of around €50,000 ($52,739 based on current rates).

G-Power Gives BMW X5 M A Worthy Performance Upgrade

It’s funny to see how German tuners are never satisfied with the stock specification of an already-monstrous car. Most German tuning companies start with a powerful luxury car, then show off their engineering skills by tinkering with the mechanicals to extract more power. Such is the case with the G-Power BMW X5 M “Typhoon S.”

G-Power has dismantled the entire powertrain of the G05 X5 M and outfitted it with advanced performance-focused components to make this X5 M more powerful. Apparently, the stock model wasn’t powerful enough for them.

The BMW X5 M, as we all know, is powered by the S63 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine bolted to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a rear-biased M-tuned all-wheel-drive system with an M Sport differential.

G-Power Is Very Serious About Engine Mods

This S63 powertrain produces 600 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque as standard, but fitting the optional Competition Package gets an additional 17 horsepower. Besides, BMW claims the X5 M takes 3.7 seconds to hit 0–60 mph. Funny enough, these figures failed to impress our folks at G-Power, and they decided to give the X5 M a crucial performance upgrade.

G-Power equipped the X5 M’s S63 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with a pair of high-performance GP-900 turbochargers that cost $6,268. These turbochargers allow more air mass than the OEM turbochargers, are optimized for higher boost pressures, use larger compressors and turbine wheels, and can work efficiently at higher temperatures.

To ensure these bigger turbochargers get adequate air to perform freely, the stock air filters have been replaced with G-Power Racing air filters that cost $250. The stock M quad exhausts are replaced with a performance exhaust system consisting of a set of sport downpipes, which cost $5,647, and the $7,522 GP-Deeptone exhaust system.

The stronger set of downpipes optimizes performance by decreasing the exhaust gas back pressure and improving the turbocharger response. The exhaust system, on the other hand, comes with carbon fiber exhaust tips and emits a menacing growl when revved.

Of course, the stock ECU isn’t designed to handle all these performance upgrades. Therefore, the tuning company has curated all these upgrades with a $4,840 GP-820 ECU that combines all these upgrades to deliver a wholesome 800 horsepower and 737 lb-ft of punch.

With an extra 183 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque churning from the tuned powertrain, we expect this BMW X5 M to cut its 0-60 times by at least a second and provide the driver with an experience of a lifetime.

Carbon Fiber Wide-Body Kit Makes The BMW X5 M “Typhoon” A Stunner

With so much effort put into the engine, this beast produces a whopping 800 horsepower when the paddles are floored. However, the stock body kit would make this 800-hp X5 M look like a softie, and the tuning artists hardly pray for that.

Thus, they have embellished the X5 M with the Typhoon S carbon aerodynamic kit that sets you back a hefty $23,163 and brings nine carbon fiber components like a front spoiler, a performance diffuser, a rear spoiler, four-wheel arches to accommodate meatier tires, and a couple of side skirts.

That wasn’t enough to bring out this sinister look. So they added a $410 decor set comprised of dynamic G-Power design cues, two side apron decors, two side badges, and a bonnet logo.

Below, the arches are dominated by a set of four 11×23-inch Hurricane RR matte black forged aluminum wheels, which cost $1,878. The wheels are equipped with 315/25 ZR23 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires to ensure the car gets enough grip when driven on tracks. Apart from these, the chassis is equipped with Variant 4 adaptive coilovers that can lower the front axle by 0.9–2.1 inches and the rear axle by 0.78–1.9 inches.
