The luxury sports sedan segment has some pretty impressive competitors. There are well-established giants like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, with their great 5 Series and E-Class offerings. Audi, too, has some great offerings in the form of the A6 and the sportier S6. However, it isn’t just the Germans who have the segment to themselves, as British rival Jaguar locks heads competently with these cars, through its offering, the XF.
Driving around in a Jaguar is always an alluring idea, and the Jaguar XF is a car that takes that dream and makes it better. Being a reliable Jaguar alone is a great plus point for the XF, but with its supercharged engine and remarkable driving dynamics, the XF Supercharged becomes a great option in the segment. Even though competitors like the Lexus GS and the BMW 5 Series might look alluring, here are 10 reasons why we adore the Jaguar XF Supercharged.
10/10 The Handsome Exterior Of The Jaguar XF Commands Great Road Presence
There’s nothing quite like riding around in a Jaguar, and the XF brings that feeling to the fore. The XF boasts a great-looking front fascia that commands head turns wherever it goes.
The four-door British sedan looks agile and powerful, which is exactly what a Jaguar should be. Even though the supercharged variant is now defunct, a pre-owned XF Supercharged from 2017 or 2015 still manages to remain quite the looker.
9/10 The Jaguar XF Supercharged Doesn’t Fail To Impress With Its Cabin
Sure, modern cabins from luxury sedans in 2022 are quite spacious and packed with premium materials and whatnot, but even the 2017 Jaguar XF manages to have a great cabin that is sure to leave occupants and passengers impressed.
The cabin remains clean and pristine, with black leather and contrasting oyster highlighting all the important bits inside. A padded dashboard features contrasting stitching, with carbon fiber making an appearance here and there to remind you of the power that your car houses underneath the hood.
8/10 The Supercharged Engine Of The XF Makes For A Thrilling Ride
Even the 2022 Jaguar XF pales in comparison to the now-defunct supercharged variant of the sedan. After all, the XF Supercharged came armed with a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged engine that made 380 horsepower and a remarkable 332 lb-ft of torque.
The XF-S model, quite naturally, was the range-topping trim and provided loads of power for those with the need for speed.
7/10 Jaguar Has Packed The XF With Plenty Of Impressive Features And Tech
Jaguar most certainly was generous when it came to fitting the XF-S with plenty of tech and features to keep everyone busy. The InControl Touch Pro infotainment system of the car was a 10.2-inch central screen that was inarguably the star of the show in the center console.
Along with that, media playback remains an absolute dream even in this half-decade-old car, thanks to a great 825-watt Meridian surround-sound system. Furthermore, the car came loaded with plenty of quality-of-life features that, to this day, keep the Jaguar XF Supercharged pretty versatile and modern in 2022.
6/10 Agile And Quick Handling Makes The Jaguar XF Supercharged A Dream To Drive
The Jaguar XF series has always been known for its great handling dynamics, and the XF Supercharged only took it up a notch. A dedicated Comfort setting in the XF-S made the suspension dampen up for commuting, providing an extremely composed ride that ate bumps on the road without ever letting them translate into the cabin.
Plus, when equipped with AWD, the Jaguar XF Supercharged is a grippy beast that can joust with the best of them in the handling department even today. Being a Jag, you won’t find any wind or road noise leaking into the cabin, offering an extremely refined ride that would make you not want to get out even when you’re at your destination.
5/10 The Jaguar XF Supercharged Propels Goes Astonishingly Fast When Floored
Even a sports car that does 0 to 60 in 5 seconds is always an impressive vehicle, but when a four-door luxury sedan achieves that feat, you know that the engine underneath means business. Equipped with an all-wheel-drive, the Jaguar XF Supercharged managed to reach the 60mph mark in 4.9 seconds, making for some thrilling acceleration.
The entire experience was made all the more thrilling thanks to the eight-speed auto transmission, which never faltered in delivering all 380 horses to the wheels. Jaguar also included paddle shifters for enhanced driver involvement in the XF Supercharged, which featured great upshifts and downshifts.
4/10 The Jaguar XF Manages To Stay Lighter Than Its Rivals
The balletic and agile handling of the Jaguar XF Supercharged was owing to its weight, which was a lot lighter than its contemporaries. The AWD-equipped XF Supercharged felt light because it was, and when compared to the BMW 540i xDrive, the XF-S managed to remain almost 140 lbs lighter.
Compared to other German rivals in the luxury sports sedan segment like the Mercedes-AMG E43 and the Audi S6, the British Jaguar XF-S was a whopping 265 lbs and 519 lbs lighter, respectively. This is what set the car apart from the competition, as it managed to be nimble and handle like a dream, while still delivering all the grip and supercharged power you could handle.
3/10 The Excellent Ride Quality Of The Jaguar XF Leaves Occupants Impressed
One simply can’t talk enough about the ride quality of the Jaguar XF Supercharged. Owing to the greatly-improved chassis in the final model year when the supercharged V6 was available, the drive modes on the XF-S tweaked around with the suspension and offered a highly refined drive while never compromising on the great handling characteristics of the car.
20-inch Pirelli all-season tires wrapped up the entire package neatly, ensuring that you could get everything you wanted from the V6 supercharged engine when you floored the pedal, but also reminded you of the luxury sedan you were in through its road-friendly manners.
2/10 The Jaguar XF Supercharged Manages To Return Impressive Efficiency Figures
Despite featuring a blown V6 supercharged engine along with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the fuel efficiency of the Jaguar XF-S was never short of impressive, even by 2022 standards.
Returning 20 miles to the gallon in the city and 28 MPG on the highway, the Jaguar XF-S was pretty much in the same efficiency territory as its competitors like the BMW 540i xDrive but still managed to return better mileage than the AMG E43.
1/10 The Jaguar XF Supercharged Remains A Remarkably Safe Car
A four-door sports luxury sedan like the Jaguar XF-S can do it all. It can be a family-friendly car and remains just as fun when you throw it in and around corners. This is why the safety of the car you’re in becomes all the more important, and that’s not a department that the XF-S lacked.
Featuring a full five-out-of-five safety rating from ANCAP, the Jaguar XF remains a great car for your family and loved ones. It features plenty of safety tech that will keep you protected, while also giving you the peace of mind you need as you punch it when the road is clear.
