The festive season in India has begun, as it goes into full swing in October we can expect quite few new car launches this month. This is considered a very auspicious period for purchase of new vehicles in India thus the festive season generally experiences higher sales compared to other times of the year.

At the cusp of the festive season in India this year the country received very interesting products from auto manufacturers in India last month. The Indian car market witnessed the introduction of many new cars like the Mercedes Benz EQS 580 4MATIC, Tata Tiago EV, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Tata Nexon XZ+(L) variant, Volvo Petrol mild-hybrid XC40, XC60, XC90 and S90, Audi A4, Tata Punch CAMO Edition, Tata Harrier XMAS and XMS variants, Mahindra XUV400, Citroen C5 Aircross, BMW X4 ‘50 Jahre M Edition’, Toyota Innova Crysta Limited Edition Petrol and the Hyundai Venue N-Line.

Chinese automaker BYD Auto recently dethroned Tesla to become the top selling EV brand in the world and is making its presence felt in India after Tesla’s exit. BYD auto is expected to introduce its electric car Atto 3 in India this month. The Atto 3 will rival the likes of MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona in the Indian market. It will enter a segment where the dominance of EVs hasn’t been established yet, it will be a great step for BYD to test the waters with the Atto 3 electric SUV in India. BYD Auto has also been actively expanding its dealership network in India in preparation for the Atto 3 EVs launch.

Hyundai has earlier confirmed that it will bring the Ioniq 5 EV to India later this year and they can’t possibly get a better time to introduce a new product than the festive season. In the international market the Ioniq 5 is offered in two versions i.e. standard and long range. Hyundai will hopefully bring both the versions to India.

After the successful introduction of the EQC, AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ and EQS 580 4MATIC, Mercedes-Benz is looking to strengthen its foothold in the electric luxury car market in India with the introduction of a more affordable EV i.e. the EQB. Correlating from the nomenclature used by Mercedes-Benz it will be placed below the EQC in the company’s Ev product lineup.

MG Hector

MG has been teasing the upcoming Hector for quite some time now so we do know a few details about it as well. For example it will get a massive 14-inch portrait oriented screen, a ‘Argyle Inspires Diamond Mesh Grille’ at the front. On the inside it will sport a dual tone Oak White & Black theme with brushed metal finish. The new cockpit inspired console will have a leather encasing. The new instrument cluster and the door panels will be complemented by horizontal lines which will make the cabin feel wide. The AC vents will have chrome finished trims. MG is expected to launch the new Hector this month before Diwali.

Nissan India has issued an event invite for October 18th, what they are planning hasn’t been revealed by the company. Nissan India has managed to keep the details of this event a secret. Keeping a product secret in this age of the internet with a camera phone in almost every hand is next to impossible but Nissan has managed to do it. Well we can’t even be sure if it is a product or a new product philosophy/architecture or a concept. The event will take place on October 18th and we have to wait to find that out.
