At approximately 3 p.m., a call was placed to St. George Police dispatch involving a two-car collision near Bluff Street and 400. The drivers involved were both males in their late teens to early 20s.

According to police, the driver in a white Audi A6L tried to turn North onto Bluff Street from a parking lot and was hit from the back on the passenger rear side by a black Toyota Tacoma small pick-up, which caused the vehicle to turn and spin into the nearby landscape of the UFirst Credit Union at 383 N. Bluff St.

The Audi stopped within 3-4 feet of the banking facility’s marquee sign and about a foot away from two bigger landscape black rocks. The truck stopped by the sidewalk on the west side of Bluff Street.

The Toyota driver transported himself to the hospital for treatment of and injured right foot. The Audi driver was not injured but was cited for failure to yield.

“Luckily, this was not worse because it could have been,” St. George Police officer David Blackman said “Just gotta be careful and patient when turning onto a busier street.”

Both vehicles were towed, and the scene was cleared by 3:30 p.m.

Within minutes of the first collision incident, another two-vehicle collision occurred in front of Pier 49 pizza at 1066 S. Bluff St.

A silver BMW 4-door sedan was hit from the rear by a white Ford F-150 pulling a trailer. Officer Casen Loria arrived on the scene to discover the collision was a result of a chain reaction involving a third vehicle that was not involved in the collision.

“An unknown vehicle suddenly stopped right by the big construction warning sign, which resulted in the BMW hitting their brakes, and then the Ford truck hitting their brakes but not stopping in time,” Officer Loria said.

The rear trunk area of the BMW sustained extensive damage, while the F-150 was left with a minor dent on the bumper.

“The weird thing was the third vehicle, which completely stopped on Bluff,” said Officer Loria of the vehicle that played a role in the collision and whose driver didn’t stop.

There were two females in the BMW and two males in the Ford. No one was injured. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene of the collision.

The driver of the Ford was cited for following too close.

“It’s been a busy day for us,” Officer Loria said. “We have a couple of other really minor accidents happening right now.”
