An 8-year-old boy is at a Boston hospital after he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene of the crash in Yarmouth, Massachusetts, according to police.Police in the Cape Cod town said the crash happened shortly before 9:45 a.m. Saturday on Higgins Crowell Road. The collision happened north of Abells Road near the Professional Building Complex.According to police, witnesses said the boy was riding a scooter when he was struck by a vehicle that did not stop after the crash. That vehicle reportedly continued traveling south on Higgins Crowell Road in the direction of Route 28.Two bystanders were providing first aid to the boy when officers arrived at the scene. Yarmouth firefighters treated the boy for serious injuries and transported him to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, where he was then put on a medical helicopter and flown to a Boston hospital, police said.Police said the boy, who has not been identified, was with his two siblings and his grandmother at the time of the crash.Witnesses told police that the vehicle involved in the crash was a gray SUV, possibly a Mercedes-Benz.
