World Car Of The Year Awards 2024: The 2024 World Car Awards were held at the New York Auto Show, showcasing a significant dominance of electric vehicles among the winners. Kia EV9, an electric SUV acclaimed for its distinctive design and remarkable performance, emerged as a double champion at the 2024 World Car Awards. Other winners included models from manufacturers such as Hyundai, BMW, Toyota and Volvo. Over 100 automobile journalists from 29 countries evaluated 38 different cars to determine the best among them across various segments.

Kia EV9 – 2024 World Car Of The Year And World Electric Vehicle 

The Kia EV9 clinched two titles at the 2024 World Car Awards. This all-electric SUV, initially showcased in concept form at the 2023 Auto Expo in India, secured the coveted title of World Car of the Year (WCOTY). Defeating rivals like BYD Seal and Volvo EX30, the Kia EV9 electric SUV also secured the 2024 World Electric Vehicle Award. The Kia EV9 represents the South Korean automaker’s flagship EV built on the E-GMP architecture, shared with the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. It is anticipated to enter the Indian market as a completely built unit (CBU) while being offered with battery pack options of 76.1 kWh and 99.8 kWh

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N – 2024 World Performance Car

Another standout performer was the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, claiming the 2024 World Performance Car title. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N outperformed contenders like the BMW M2 and BMW XM. The electric performance car boasts an 84 kWh battery pack and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, achieving a top speed of 260 km/h.

BMW 5 Series/i5 – 2024 World Luxury Car 

The BMW 5 Series and i5 secured the 2024 World Luxury Car Award, marking the ninth triumph for the German luxury car giant in the history of the World Car Awards. In this category, there were 13 competitors and the BMW 5 Series/i5 surpassed rivals like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV. It is likely that BMW will be launching the new 5 Series and i5 in the Indian market later this year.
