From the usual off-roading modifications to three-door body styles, which would obviously make it even more affordable, name it, and chances are it has been done. Heck, we’ve even seen a baby Land Cruiser, which is about the same size as the Yaris Cross. Such a vehicle would inevitably take a swing at the Suzuki Jimny, though only if it features a proper body-on-frame construction, a low-range transmission, long-travel suspension, and other gear that would make it a proper tool off the lit path.
As for one of the latest CGI takes that we came across, it actually trades the go-anywhere ability of the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser for the grocery-getter looks. Bearing the signature of Kelsonik, it made its way to social media recently, and a side-by-side comparison with the original shows what’s new. Instead of the silver color and the usual black plastic trim, this one sports a darker hue. Gone are the OEM wheels, as a set of larger alloys with a concave shape, a Y-spoke pattern, and a much larger size has replaced them. The truck also rides closer to the ground, and it’s safe to say that it won’t do much off-roading in this configuration.
Nonetheless, we reckon that once customers start getting their hands on it, some of them will eventually go for this look. However, they will have to wait until next spring to get down and personal with it, as that’s when deliveries will kick off in the United States. The official pricing has yet to be announced, though it has been reported that it could start at roughly $55,000. If correct, then the new Land Cruiser will be approximately $30,000 cheaper than its predecessor, which bid farewell to our market after the 2021 model year. But now it’s back, and it is a breath of fresh air in the high-riding segment, as while some similarly-sized vehicles are not able to cope with steep slopes, this Toyota can do it like a champ, albeit with a few mods.
