2023 Lexus IS500 F Sport Review – The Sexy Red Interior

Meet the 2024 Toyota C-HR, the brand’s newest take on compacts. The closer you look, the more similar it gets. The new C-HR takes genes from the new Prius and the BZ4X EV, mixing the goodness of both worlds. The C-HR will only come with hybrid engines, and buyers get three engine choices. With best-in-class styling, interiors, and safety, this crossover should impress all kinds of people. However, it will face fierce competition from the Nissan Juke, Peugeot 3008, SEAT Ateca, and Hyundai Kona.

The bad news here! Toyota hasn’t uttered any details about when to expect the car and it’s not coming to America anytime soon! Sighs!

Things We Like About The 2024 Toyota C-HR:

  • Compact design and sporty looks
  • Upscale interior with sports seats
  • Infotainment system offers big screens and wireless connectivity
  • Latest Toyota Safety Sense suite
  • Should offer decent practicality
  • Highly efficient hybrid engines

Toyota’s efforts on reducing the carbon footprint resume with recycling materials. The 2024 C-HR uses double the amount of recycled materials compared to its predecessor. Toyota claims to have used more than 100 different recycled components, ranging from upholstery to exterior components.

The interior features a new seating material that’s composed of plastics made from recycled PET bottles. Furthermore, fenders, bumpers, and other various body parts are made from a new pre-colored resin-based polymer that will gradually contribute towards saving hundreds of tons of CO2. Also, Toyota adopted new automated painting methods with water-based paints and new animal-free artificial soft leatherette seating materials.

Toyota has equipped the 2024 C-HR with three hybrid engines, all of which use a CVT gearbox and are highly efficient. The lower models will have a 140-hp 1.8-liter hybrid inline-four engine that offers excellent fuel economy and pushes it from 0-60 mph in around 9.9 seconds.

There’s a 198-hp 2.0-liter hybrid inline-four engine that should be included in the GR Sport model. This unit is derived from the Corolla Hybrid and, unlike the latter, can be equipped with an FWD and AWD (i-AWD) system.

The range-topping trims will feature a 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid system, borrowed from the Prius Prime. The C-HR PHEV will provide up to 223 horsepower and should take less than 7 seconds for the 0-60 mph run. Being a plug-in hybrid, the CH-R will carry a 13.6 kWh battery for providing up to 41 miles of all-electric range.

All three engines benefit from important additions like a new trans-axle, PCU, more powerful high-voltage battery, and new hybrid engine components. The plug-in hybrid system offers a “one pedal” driving experience and regenerative braking to increase range. The CH-R PHEV introduces a new “Geofencing Function” that uses the GPS to detect a low-emission zone and automatically switches to electric power.

Toyota claims to have improved the overall driving dynamics and ride comfort with the new i-AWD system along with some major improvements in the powertrain, brakes, and suspension calibrations.

The 2024 Toyota C-HR looks very similar to last year’s Prologue concept. Toyota admits having borrowed cues from the all-electric BZ4X SUV and the new Prius. The C-clamped headlights and lower bumper are inspired by the Prius. However, Toyota has restyled it with sharper DRLs, new quad headlamps, and a more aggressive front apron to deliver a distinctive look. The side and rear profile, however, resembles the style of the BZ4X. The dual-tone exterior paint schemes, lowered roof, sloping roofline, and bulged tailgate contribute to the overall character of the car.

Besides the overall aesthetics, Toyota incorporated minor details to improve the overall aerodynamics to optimize fuel economy and range. Elements like a shorter overhang, new 20-inch wheels, sloping roofline, aggressive front and rear bumper, and a spoiler, not only deliver sportier appeal but also increase the aerodynamic quotient as well.

Like other Toyota cars, the redesigned C-HR crossover brings a long list of features. Toyota has equipped the redesigned C-HR with unique features that should allure potential European buyers.

The 2024 Toyota C-HR greets occupants with animated welcome lights consisting of automatic brightening of front and rear lights in a signature pattern.

The interior features a sporty layout and uses artificial leather and hard plastics. The dashboard layout is simple with either an 8-inch or 12.3-inch touchscreen docked on the upper part followed by intuitive controls and cubbies below. The driver is provided with a new 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, leather steering wheel, and head-up display. Also, the interior provides unique memory settings for different drivers that apply personal seating positions, digital instrument cluster, and head-up display settings.

The 2024 CH-R will come with an optional digital key system, where the driver can enter and start the vehicle with just their phone. Furthermore, the digital instrument cluster has three pre-set layouts for drivers to choose and customize.

The redesigned CH-R is the first Toyota to feature a highly sophisticated 64-color ambient lighting system. The lights synchronize with time and provide audiovisual alerts to notify the driver of a threat. For example, the lights turn red when different driver assist systems are at work.

All 2024 Toyota C-HR trims will come equipped with Toyota’s latest Safety Sense Package (TSS 3) for providing buyers with class-leading safety. Apart from the standard TSS 3 driver assist features, the C-HR’s safety system will include additional technologies like Acceleration Suspension, Proactive Driving Assist, steering assist, lane change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and a new driver monitoring system. However, these features will come under a subscription package.
