Car brands issue urgent recalls

The Japanese brand needs to inspect about 7600 vehicles built between May 2020 and May 2023. Both petrol and hybrid models are included in the recall.

Toyota said a manufacturing error may have damaged part of the suspension arm causing minor cracking.

This could result in the suspension arm breaking if repeatedly driven on bumpy and uneven road surfaces. If the suspension does break it could increase the risk of a serious accident, injury or death.

Toyota has asked all affected owners to contact their local dealership immediately to book in for a free inspection and repair.

Toyota said the inspection will take about 30 minutes and if a crack is found it’ll take another two to five hours to fix.

Land Rover has issued multiple recalls, too.

The first surrounds the Discovery SUV.

More than 4000 vehicles are affected by an issue with the rear door.

Due to a manufacturing defect water may enter the rear door latch causing corrosion. If this happens the rear doors may not stay latched and a warning light on the dash alerting you to an open rear door will not work.

If the corrosion occurs then the door could open while the car is in motion increasing the risk of a serious injury or death to the vehicle occupants or other road users according to the recall notice posted by the Federal Government department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts.

Land Rover will contact affected owners and ask them to take their vehicle to their local dealership for a free inspection and repair.

The British brand also issued a recall for its hyper luxury Range Rover SUV.

More than 200 of the brand’s flagship SUVs were recalled. Prices for the Range Rover start at about $250,000.

These vehicles may be affected by a faulty rear tail light that may not illuminate in the dark, which could increase the risk of a serious accident.

Owners should take their vehicle to the nearest dealership for a free repair.
