A recent study by iSeeCars.com proved this by listing down which vehicles have the best chance to reach 250,000 miles. The baseline for the study was an 11.8 percent chance for an average vehicle to hit the quarter-million-mile mark. To get a picture of which cars are more likely to survive high mileage, the study analyzed over 260 million cars sold between 2012 and 2022. They ended up with a list of 23 vehicles with at least a 20 percent chance of reaching 250,000 miles.
Toyota had the most entries on the list with 8. Three of them claimed spots in the top 5. Ford claimed 2 spots in the top 5, living up to its tagline “Built Ford Tough”. This includes the top spot with the most durable car of the bunch: the Ford F-350 Super Duty.
The Ford F-350 Super Duty Is The Most Likely To Hit 250,000 Miles
The Ford F-350 Super Duty topped the list with a 49.1 percent chance of reaching the quarter-millionth mile. This probably didn’t come as a surprise, as the Ford F-350 is one of the most reliable and trusted pickup trucks. The Ford F-350 Super Duty is most recommended for businesses and haulers for its 20,000-lb tow capacity. Even at a steep price of $49,000, the new F-350 is still worth every penny. You can expect it to last lifetimes, considering you can find used F-350s close to 250,000 miles in good condition today.
At the fifth spot would also be another popular Ford workhorse, the Ford F-250 Super Duty. The F-250 is 43.6 percent likely to reach 250,000 miles. Just like the F-350, the Ford F-250 Super Duty is one of the toughest and most reliable pickup trucks on the market. Not even the toughest, coldest conditions can keep it from doing its work.
Other American manufacturers rounding up the top 10 are Chevrolet and GMC. The GMC Sierra 2500HD took the 8th spot with a chance of 41.3 percent. Following close behind is the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with 41.2 percent. The manufacturer with the most entries in the list will not come as a surprise. It’s the manufacturer well-known for its reliability: Toyota.
Several Cars From Toyota Are Likely To Hit A Quarter Million Miles
Toyota has always been well known for making reliable cars. While Ford topped the list, three Toyotas rounded up the top 5 with the Land Cruiser, Tundra, and Sequoia. Sitting at No.2 with a score of 47.9 percent is the most reliable SUV ever, the Toyota Land Cruiser. The Toyota Land Cruiser is one of the most popular SUVs among off-roaders. Its earlier generations are some of the most sought-after off-road classics. Decades after they came out, it’s easy to find Toyota Land Cruisers in the market with at least 200,000 miles.
Coming in at 3rd with an identical score of 47.9 percent is the Toyota Tundra. Much like the Land Cruiser, the Tundra is also one of the toughest vehicles in the lineup. At 4th place with a close score of 47.1 percent is the Toyota Sequoia. The Sequoia is a proven and tested SUV that seen its fair share of challenges.
Further down, five more Toyota models would make the list. The fan-favorite Toyota Tacoma sits at 7th with 41.7 percent. Wrapping up the top 10 is the Toyota 4Runner, with a 41 percent chance to hit 250,000 miles. The Toyota Avalon, Sienna and Camry also make the list with a score of 33.1 percent, 23.3 percent and 20.4 percent.
There is one thing that sets Ford and Toyota apart in making reliable, dependable vehicles. It is their shared history of innovating the automotive industry.
